Growing in the Greenhouse
Tucked away behind the Park depot along Cormont Road you will find the Myatt's Fields Park Greenhouse, a hive of growing and greening activity in the heart of Camberwell.
Along with our incredible volunteers, our Community Gardeners, Fabrice and Taye, work part time in the Greenhouse to lead this active example of urban food growing. Myatt’s Fields Park is located in a food desert (an area with very few opportunities to experience good quality food). We work hard to improve people’s access to high quality, healthy and affordable locally grown food. It’s a fantastic way to promote and celebrate the local food culture surrounding the Park!
Current projects in the Greenhouse are:
Friday gardening club:
Every Friday from 9.30am – 11.30am, Taye works with the gardening club to grow seedlings in the Greenhouse for planting around the Roundhouse and other park maintenance activities. The club also takes trips together to other green spaces and sites of interest and may start hosting arts, crafts and cooking activities. If you’d like to get involved, please contact our Project Officer Golda on golda@myattsfieldspark info or 07949 540524. Or our Park Manager on [email protected]
Free seedlings for community groups:
New for 2017, we are piloting the development of the Greenhouse as a community nursery to provide 30,000 seedlings free for up to 50 Lambeth community groups, schools and other growing projects. Seedlings must be ordered in advance with Fabrice and groups are limited to four collections a year. Further information can be found on the order form.
Please contact Fabrice on [email protected] or 07534 195591 to discuss your requirements and order your seedlings. Once you've received your seedlings, Taye is on hand to support groups in Vassall and Coldharbour wards to help plant up and look after their seedlings. This offer is limited for up to 10 groups, we'll be in touch to those groups we are able to support.
Update: We are now at capacity for 2017 for the offer above! Apologies if you've missed out this year, do sign up to our e-newsletter so stay up to date with future opportunities.

The next training will start on Tuesday 17 July. If you are interested in signing up, please contact Tori on [email protected]
